Fekner’s Drive-by Highway Gallery

Asphalt Indian Trails

When I look at John Fekner‘s photographed stencil installations on highways, I began to wonder what it would be like to actually see them while driving. It would probably grab my eye instantly. Those simple word(s) wouldn’t leave my mind and force me to think about the message. Somehow I would be saddened by my imagination that Indians, woods and oceans are buried under the asphalt. It resonates the absence of  Trees, Woods, Ocean, Indians in our environment, and Fekner was the master who framed it succinctly, displaying in the most unorthodox gallery on earth.
