Fekner’s Drive-by Highway Gallery

Asphalt Indian Trails

When I look at John Fekner‘s photographed stencil installations on highways, I began to wonder what it would be like to actually see them while driving. It would probably grab my eye instantly. Those simple word(s) wouldn’t leave my mind and force me to think about the message. Somehow I would be saddened by my imagination that Indians, woods and oceans are buried under the asphalt. It resonates the absence of  Trees, Woods, Ocean, Indians in our environment, and Fekner was the master who framed it succinctly, displaying in the most unorthodox gallery on earth. Continue reading

Bildbauten by Philipp Schaerer

“The series of images with the title “Bildbauten” deals with the effect and the claim to credibility of images of architecture that appear to be photographs. It further questions the medium “photograph” as a documentary piece of evidence depicting reality.”

Layered Drawings by Nobuhiro Nakanishi

Laser print onto acrylic plexiglass.
I was surprised to find out that this is not some kind of special graphic effect. It’s real prints hung in a real gallery. I feel as if I am looking into a tunnel of a morphing time sequence.

Obsessions Make My Life Worse and My Work Better

Waagdragerhof Square in Amsterdam on September 13, 2008

A Master work by Stefan Sagmeister

This is probably one of my favorite Sagmeister’s works, although I feel in my heart the message with the word “my” makes it a little too ego-centric for a public work of art. The installation of 250 000 Eurocents on Waagdragerhof Square in Amsterdam on September 13, 2008. It took 8 days, more than 100 volunteers, over 300 sqm area.
Art Direction: Stefan Sagmeister
Design: Richard The, Joe Shouldice
